Overview Of Mara & Ndutu Tented Camps
If you are looking for a unique safari experience that puts you right in the heart of the action, then look no further than Lemala Mara & Ndutu Tented Camps. These authentic mobile tented camps provide guests with a front-row seat to the incredible wildebeest migration that takes place in the Serengeti ecosystem throughout the year. With two locations – Lemala Ndutu and Lemala Mara – the camps move with the seasons to ensure that visitors witness this natural spectacle up close.
Lemala Ndutu Tented Camp,is Located in the Ndutu region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area near the Southern Serengeti, offers a classic safari experience. The camp is situated in one of the best spots in Ndutu to observe the migration, especially between December and March. During this time, tens of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle graze on the nutrient-rich short grass plains, making it a prime location for predators like lions and cheetahs. Lemala Ndutu, with its 9 tents perched on the edge of a marsh, provides the perfect setting to witness the drama of the migration unfold.
From June to October, Lemala Mara Tented Camp moves north to the Northern Serengeti, offering guests a chance to witness the migration in this remote wilderness. The camp, which features 12 tents set up under large Euclea trees, provides an intimate and uncrowded safari experience. Depending on the year, the camp may be situated near the Mara River, allowing guests to observe the wildebeest crossing as they make their way to the Maasai Mara. Resident wildlife numbers are always high, but during the migration, the area comes alive with thousands of animals congregating for the river crossing.
For those visiting Lemala Ndutu Tented Camp, the nearest airstrip is Ndutu, just a 20-minute drive away. For guests heading to Lemala Mara Tented Camp, the closest airstrip is Kogatende, a 40-minute drive from the camp.
