Temperatures climb slightly to highs of 27°C (81°F) and lows of 15°C (59°F). The area receives more rainfall, roughly 81 mm (3.2 in). October marks the tail end of the river crossings as wildebeests return to the Serengeti. The short rains start in late October and rejuvenate the landscape, pulling in migratory birds from Europe and Asia. In January, brief, light showers occur in the afternoons, but they do not hinder wildlife viewings.
